Anglian Water is investing £1.2 million to wage a war on leaks from water pipes in Claydon near Ipswich.
The scheme will replace over 3,000m of water pipe in and around the city –equivalent to the length of more than 31 football pitches.
Regan Harris, an Anglian Water spokesperson, explained:
"Ipswich is one of the largest cities in our region and we are investing heavily to further improve the service we provide to our customers. To replace over 3000m of water pipe is no mean feat. This scheme is the latest in our programme of works to wage a war on leakage in order to keep customer costs down.”
Between 2015 and the end of the decade the water company will have invested more than £435 million across Suffolk alone.
The work, which begins this week, will be completed in June.
